Otha “O.C.” Clayton Mallory, 89, went to his eternal home on August 18, 2017. He was born in Great Falls, SC and was a long-time resident of Asheville. Mr. Mallory was an active and faithful member of the Miami, FL, and Asheville First Church of the Nazarene. He was a WWII Veteran, serving in the Navy from 1945-1948 in the South Pacific. He was married to the late Mary Eleanor Ballew Mallory for 57 years. He was a servant of God, a loving husband, a father, a grandfather and great-grandfather. He raised two daughters, Sandra Lee Mallory Snyder and Rebecca Ann Mallory Attig, to love and serve the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peg” Peifer Mallory; two daughters, Sandra Lee Snyder (Rev. Larry Snyder, retired) of Newberry, FL, and Rebecca Ann Attig (Rev. Larry Attig, retired) of Melbourne, FL; five grandchildren: Phillip W. Snyder (Julia), of Morgantown, PA; Stephanie L. Snyder Palka (Neil), of Gainesville, FL; Keri Attig Hastings (Rev. Matthew Hastings), of Estele Springs, TN; Jared A. Attig (Lauren), of Franklin, TN; Denean Attig Lennon (Rev. Nicholas Lennon), of Jacksonville, FL; and 18 great-grandchildren. Mr. Mallory also had two step-children, David Peifer (Brenda), of Weaverville, NC, and Barbara Peifer (Nicholas Miles), of Evanston, IL; seven step-grandchildren: Adam and Nicholas Kramarczyk, Lily and Dylan Peifer, Samantha and Tyler Solon, and Alexander Miles. Mr. Mallory was active in the Boy Scouts of America, South Florida Council, Miami, FL and Asheville Troop 138. He received the Order of the Arrow, which is a National Honor Society of the Boy Scouts of America, and the Woodbadge with three beads, the highest level of Adult Scout. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous Judge, will award to me.” II Timothy 4:7-8 A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, at the First Church of the Nazarene, 385 Hazel Mill Road, Asheville, NC 28806. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Rd. is assisting the family.
