Santo Marks, Jr, 89, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Oaks at Sweeten Creek nursing home. Mr. Marks was born in Carbondale, PA to the late Santo Marks, Sr. and Rose Gentile Marks. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ella Marks and one sister, Rosella Peterson. Santo was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He worked at Associated Springs for over 30 years where he made springs for products from cars to watches, etc…. He then was employed with Buncombe County Schools as a Transportation Safety Attendant for 10 years. He is survived by his four children, Debby Bischoff of Brooklyn, NY, Dayle “DeDe” Edmundson and her husband, Chuck of Marietta, GA, Greg Marks and his wife Lorrine of Mills River, and Sally Winchester and her husband, David of Asheville; nine grandchildren, Lindsey Bischoff Schaefer, Rachel Edmundson Nelson, Hunter Edmundson, Sam Edmundson, Stephanie Marks York, Abby Marks Gorglione, Spencer Marks, Aaron Marks, and Alan Winchester; eight great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Jack Powers of Phoenix, AZ; a brother-in-law, Richard Degnan of Bristol, Conn. and several nieces and nephews. The Rosary will be said at 6:00 pm Thursday, August 10th at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road followed by a family visitation until 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Adrian Porras at 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2017, at St. Barnabas Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard. Memorial donations be made to Autism Speaks, www.autismspeaks.org.

  6. I am so sorry for your loss. I remember talking to Deds dad at one of your parties about his work as an attendant on a special needs school bus. He was such a sweet and caring man.
