David Richard Wilson

David Richard Wilson, 84, of Mills River, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2017 at the Elizabeth House. A native of Henderson County, he was a son of the late Roscoe and Laura Smart Wilson. He was also preceded in death by all of his brothers and sisters. David is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Israel Wilson; four children, Kathy Wilson of Arden, Richard Wilson and his wife, Martha, of Fletcher, Michael Wilson and his wife, Angie, of Mills River and Barry Wilson and his wife, Tiffany, of Raleigh; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. David was a longtime member of Skyland First Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed repairing televisions throughout the neighborhood. A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 30 at Skyland First Baptist Church with Reverend Perry Brindley and Reverend Jared Mathis officiating. Interment will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM on Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Family Life Center at Skyland First Baptist Church, 2115 Hendersonville Road, Skyland, NC 28776. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
