Ethel Mae Cathey

Ethel Mae King Cathey, 90, died Thursday, December 30, 2004, at South Haven Nursing Home in Hoover, AL. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John M. Cathey, her parents William Roscoe and Estelle Mae Hyatt King, two sisters and four brothers all of North Carolina. Mrs. Cathey lived in Huntsville, AL for 38 years and attended Mountain View Baptist Church. She moved to Asheville in 1990 and lived here until 2000 when she moved back to Alabama. A loving mother, grandmother and wonderful friend, she is survived by two sons, John Cathey and his wife Sharon of Snellville, GA and Ed Cathey and his wife Jancie of Hoover, AL; a sister, Ruth Irene King of Pooler, GA; five granddaughters; two grandsons and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Green Hills Cemetery at 11:00 am Monday with the Reverend Don Welborn officiating. Her family will receive friends from 4:00-5:30 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
