Clayton Waldo Lewis, 82, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Aston Park Health Care Center. A native of South Carolina, Clayton was a son of the late Will and Josie Bufkin Lewis and was also preceded in death in 2006 by his wife of 49 years, Bette Jane Hughes Lewis. Mr. Lewis was an Air Force veteran and a retired Asheville firefighter. He is survived by three sons, Stanley Mosher, Robert L. Lewis and wife Debbie, and Phillip Lewis; one daughter, Catherine Hagan and husband John; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters Bonnie and Shirley, and brother, Carleton. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with his son, the Rev. Robert L. Lewis officiating.
