Rollins Carl Davis

Rollins Carl Davis, 91, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation & Care Center. A native of Barnardsville, Rollins was a son of the late Benjamin Walter and Misha Jane Haynes Davis. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Ruby Hollis Ensley Davis; sisters, Anna Mae Thompson and Vonnie Bell; and brothers, Erdman and Wallace Lattie Davis. Mr. Davis proudly served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. He retired later in life from Sealtest Dairies, where he worked as a route salesman. Mr. Davis is survived by his sons, Pastor George Davis and wife Billie, of Asheville, Richard Lloyd Davis and wife Sole, of Auburn, AL, and Edwin Carl Davis and wife Lee, of Inman, SC; sisters, Etta Powers, Novella Pegg, and Grethel Rickman; seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral service for Mr. Davis, with military honors, will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel. His son, Pastor George Davis will officiate. Interment will follow in the cemetery. His family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. prior to the service.
