Margetta Ruth Ross "Margie" Deese, 75, died Friday, September 23, 2016.
Born in Rutherford County, Mrs. Deese was a daughter of the late Ernest and Ruth Erwin Ross, and was also preceded in death by a son, Tony Goforth (1997). She retired from Wachovia Bank in the retail loan department.
She is survived by her son, Randy Goforth (Donna) of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Alexandra Nicole Goforth of Lincolnton and Kendra Tomblin (Brandon) of Richlands, VA and one great-grandchild, Kalina Tomblin.
A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Merrimon Avenue Baptist Church, which she loved as well as her Bible Study. The Rev. Johnny Prettyman officiated.

Margie, may you rest in peace and your family and friends be comforted during this time of sadness.
Margie and I were friends from first grade at Spindale Elementary through high school graduation at R-S Central High School and throughout adulthood. She will be greatly missed by so many who loved her.
Comfort for family and friends through God’s love and the knowledge that he has another good soul with him and that she is happy to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
I was a friend of Marge’s from first grade on. Last talked with her in July to see if she felt able to go to meet for lunch but she was not able. I am saddened by her passing and my thoughts and prayers are with her family and Bill. She will be greatly missed.
Randy, so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
