Katherine Louise Thompson

Katherine L. Thompson, 88, formerly of 61 Lynnwood Circle, Asheville, died Tuesday, November 12, 2002, at the Laurels of Greentree Ridge Health Care Center. Mrs. Thompson was born and raised in India to missionary parents, the late Rev. Henry Swan and Mrs. Edna Lundeen Swan. “Konnie” came to the United States to study art at the age of 18 and was a world traveler with a passion for life. She will be sadly missed by all those whose lives she touched and we continue to celebrate her life. She is survived by a daughter, Enid Desmond of Asheville; two sons, Richard Thompson of Bayshore, NY, and Dean Thompson of Ft. Worth, TX; a brother, Rev. Charles Swan of AR; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and her puppies, Webster and Teddy, who she adored. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Henry R. “Rusty” Inman officiating. Her family will receive friends following the service.
