Bobby Joel Bailey passed away during the evening of September 20, 2016.
Bobby was born on July 1, 1935, in Rutherfordton, NC, to parents Furman and Laura Bailey who preceded him in death. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and love of his life, wife Dorothy, son Danny (Linda), daughter Jan, step grandchild Jaime (Christen), step great-grandchildren James and Cameron, sisters Marilyn and Linda, and numerous extended family members who loved him dearly.
Bob was a graduate of NC State University and worked as a textile chemist for 37 years at American Enka and BASF.
There will be a reception to receive friends on Sunday, September 25th at 5:30 p.m. at the Ministry Center of Hominy Baptist Church, 135 Candler School Road, Candler, NC. There will be no funeral service as per Bob's request.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

Bob was a truly fine man. He will be greatly missed.
So sad to read of the passing of Bob, he was such a good person. He was a great neighbor, for several years until we moved from our home to another home in Candler. I also worked with Dot at the Dr. Smith’s office. His children were also loved my 4 children. I know he will be missed by wife, and all his children and friends. Our love and prayers and strength to all. Pat Allen Duncan, Cheryl, Dana, Andrea and Brad.

Dot, Jan and Danny – I am so sorry. I know that Bob is sitting right bedside Jesus today. He was such a giving, kind and gentle man. I have such great memories of his sweet smile and his soft tender way of speaking. Memories that will always stay in my heart. Please know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
