Thomas Gene Snyder 1933-2016 passed away on Sunday September 18, 2016. He was surrounded by his family and remarkable North Carolina State Veterans Facility caretakers. Tom or "Duke" as he was known to many, was a polite and dignified man, successful in his software and technology career, his music and as a loving father and husband. Tom was an avid tennis player whose on court strategy reflected the way he lived his life, a polite and positive teammate who never broke a sweat.
Tom won numerous awards and recognition throughout his career, but his greatest life accomplishment was his family who he is survived by: his wife Betty Jean Snyder of 55 years, children Gil (wife Kim), John (wife Sherrie), Bonnie (husband Ben Hamrick), Julie (husband Tim Ramey) and Stephanie (husband Bill Anderson); 14 grandchildren and 7 greatgrand children.

I am so sorry for your loss. I want to leave your family a comforting scripture during this time. God has given us a wonderful promise in the bible where one day we won’t ever experience losing our loved ones again in Isaiah 25:8. ‘He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces. The reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, For Jehovah himself has spoken it.’ Your family will be in my prayers.
My sincere condolences to the Snyder family. So sorry for your loss. May you find comfort in the Bible’s hope for the future. John 5:28,29 says, ‘Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.’ What this can mean for you is a real hope of being reunited with your dead loved ones. I know you yearn to be with the ones you love again, and Almighty God Jehovah yearns to bring back those who are in his memory and to see them live on earth again. (Job 14:14,15)
Mrs. Synder,
Please accept my condolences. You may not remember my name, but I remember the week Mr. Synder was admitted to the NC State Veteran’s Home. My dad had just recently been admitted and you and I sat and talked in the living room. I could see how much you loved him and how hard it was for you. I always enjoyed seeing Mr. Synder walking in the hall. Sometimes he would come sit with us when we were visiting dad. I loved seeing you walk the halls with him holding his hand and bringing him a special treat. My prayers will be with you and your family.
