Amber Leigh Dawi, 22, of Asheville, died on Monday, July 18, 2016, at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Buncombe Co., Amber was the daughter of Fred Palmero Dawi and Debra Goodman Dawi. Amber was a member of East Asheville United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Brian Dawi, from Asheville, and her fiancé, Joel Hamaker, of Asheville. The funeral service for Amber will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at East Asheville United Methodist Church with Chaplain David Ingram, and the Revs. Kerry Purselle and Chad Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Skyview Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Rd. Memorials in Amber's name may be made to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, P.O. Box 8195, Asheville NC 28814, or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Shriners Hospitals for Children International Headquarters, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.

  15. I worked at Mission Hosp as a travel nurse on the oncology unit. Amber was such a special and beautiful young woman. I left numerous days in tears for her. She was so young and beautiful. I prayed for her every night I left work. It was truly an honor to be her nurse.

  24. I am so sorry to read about your loss, it is especially tragic to lose a loved one so young. Fortunately, death is only a temporary part of life. (John 5:28,29) So although your time with Amber was far too short, you can have the hope of being reunited with her forever. In the meantime, even though the pain may at times seem insurmountable, rest assured that God will give you the strength necessary to endure. (Psalm 94:17-19) Please accept my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences.
