Amber Leigh Dawi, 22, of Asheville, died on Monday, July 18, 2016, at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals.
A native of Buncombe Co., Amber was the daughter of Fred Palmero Dawi and Debra Goodman Dawi.
Amber was a member of East Asheville United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Brian Dawi, from Asheville, and her fiancé, Joel Hamaker, of Asheville.
The funeral service for Amber will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at East Asheville United Methodist Church with Chaplain David Ingram, and the Revs. Kerry Purselle and Chad Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Skyview Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday evening at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Rd.

Debra, I am sending love your way. Amber was a lovely young woman whom I wish I could have had the privilege to have met. She will be missed dearly, but she is with God. We will never forget her and the impact she has made on this world.
The Dawi’s clan across the globe are with you at this time of mourning. We’ve met her once when you visited Philippines, and that memory will stay with us forever.

I am so very sorry to hear of Amber’s passing. I have lovely memories of her while she was a student at ACR in the marching band, and watching Avatar with the other clarinet players at our house. The heavens have another angel. May the Peace of the Lord be with you.

I worked at Mission Hosp as a travel nurse on the oncology unit. Amber was such a special and beautiful young woman. I left numerous days in tears for her. She was so young and beautiful. I prayed for her every night I left work. It was truly an honor to be her nurse.
Joel, I am sorry for your loss. My heart hurts for you and Amber’s family. I just wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and praying for you.

You are in my prayers. Though I only knew Amber for a short time, she was always so full of life, fun, and loving. I have thought about her and all the youth at East Asheville often since I left. May the peace that passes all understanding be with you all.

I am so sorry to read about your loss, it is especially tragic to lose a loved one so young. Fortunately, death is only a temporary part of life. (John 5:28,29) So although your time with Amber was far too short, you can have the hope of being reunited with her forever. In the meantime, even though the pain may at times seem insurmountable, rest assured that God will give you the strength necessary to endure. (Psalm 94:17-19) Please accept my deepest sympathy and sincere condolences.
