Roy Kenneth Harris, 68, of Frisco, NC died on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at his home. Born in Waleska, Georgia, he was the son of the late Frank Harris and Leila McDaris Harris. Roy was a graduate of Erwin High School in Asheville, NC. A Sergeant First Class, Roy retired from the United States Army having served his country honorably. He also retired from civil service at Fort Eustis, Virginia in 2013. Roy is survived by his wife of 40 years, Judith Bradley Harris; a daughter, Monica Nicholson and husband, Kelly of Beaverdam, VA; a son, Nathaniel Harris of Barnardsville, NC; three grandchildren, Savannah, Tommy and Hunter; sisters Ora Cain and Margie Sharpe; brothers, Joe Harris, Gary Harris and Ronnie Harris; as well as nieces and nephews. A funeral will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Avenue. Burial will follow at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends and relatives prior to the service beginning at 11:00 am. Memorials may be made to Little Grove United Methodist Church 57665 NC 12, Frisco, NC 27943

    You were a great co-worker and friend. It was good to know you for the years that I did and you are the one that taught me the ropes here at range control. . You were like a brother to me.Thanks for the memories. You will be truly missed.

  12. Sorry to hear that this happened he was a good man I remember the time he came home on leave one year I was young I though I was in good shape he said want to go for a run. I said yes, but it became a 10 mile run LOL he pushed me to finish that made me want to finish every thing I did. Thanks RIP Love Ronald Harris
