Ethel M. Reese Shepard

Ethel M. Reese Shepard, 73, of 277 Rock Hill Road, Asheville, died Friday, October 15, 2004. Mrs. Shepard was born in Madison County and was a daughter of the late Willie and Jane Keener Reese. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Shepard, a daughter-in-law Evelyn Shepard, a sister Mamie Jones and brothers Roy Reese and Troy Reese. Ethel was a wonderful caring homemaker who had an extraordinary love for her family and friends. She wrote poetry for everything good or bad. She was an awesome wood carver. She loved dolls and angels and she has gone home to be one. She loved all of her nieces and nephews. Surviving are her husband of 56 years James Walter Shepard; three sons David Shepard and his wife Diane, Michael Shepard and Dan Shepard; three sisters Lois Tate, Rose Reese and Jean Reese; and a brother Charlie Reese and his wife Pauline. Mrs. Shepard was the loving grandmother of fifteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Burial will be at Emmas Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Her family expresses sincere appreciation to Cheryl Laws and April Shepard for “always being there”.
