Gerald F Hickey, 91, of Givens Estates, died January 10, 2016 in Asheville, NC. A native of Worcester, Massachusetts, he was a Navy veteran of WWII. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ida M. (Bobbie) Hickey in 1977, his second wife, Shirley Bailey Maiwurm Hickey in 2007, his sister Mabel Hickey LaJoie in 2007 and an infant son Christopher M. Hickey. Mr. Hickey retired in 1982 as a Senior Consultant from the Engineering Department of E.I.duPont Company. He had been registered as a Professional Engineer in Connecticut, Delaware, and New York. He is survived by his five children and their spouses: Anthony F. Hickey and his wife Barbara Lewis Hickey of Wilmington, Delaware; Catherine T. Hickey and her husband William D. Fletcher, Jr. of Dover, Delaware; John J. Hickey and his wife Susan Epstein of West Park, New York; S. Patrick Hickey and his wife Andrea M. Blythe of Maplewood, New Jersey; and Gregory K. Hickey and his wife Amy L. Hickey of Manassas, Virginia; his eleven grandchildren, Michelle Hickey Suchyj, Melanie Hickey Pertain, Monica Hickey Herjavec, Mason Hickey, M. Andrew Hickey, Jeffrey G. Fletcher, Timothy C. Fletcher, Christopher M. Hickey, Kelly M. Hickey, Sean M. Hickey and Paul A. Hickey as well as ten great-grandchildren. Services will be held at a later date in Delaware. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting with the arrangements.
