Pansy Mae Box

Pansy McCorkle Box, age 90, of Arden, NC, departed this temporary life on Earth on December 23, 2015, for her eternal home in Heaven. She was born on January 6, 1925, in Lincoln County to the late James Richard McCorkle and Nancy Litten McCorkle. Pansy worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years in Lincoln County. She enjoyed canning, making homemade jellies, and helping others. In addition to her parents, Pansy was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Box, and four brothers, Charlie McCorkle, Frank McCorkle, Boyce McCorkle, and Johnny McCorkle. She is survived by one sister, Lou Anna Wilkinson, and a number of nieces and nephews. She leaves all who knew and loved her, with special memories of her caring and generous spirit. The family would like to thank The Oaks at Sweeten Creek of Arden, NC for their special care for Pansy for the past year and Darlyne Jarrett for being a special friend to Pansy for many years. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
