John Christoph
September 13, 1962 ~ December 27, 2015
Resided in:
Biltmore Lake, NC
What an amazing ride it was. John Christoph, age 53, passed away on December 27, 2015 in his Biltmore Lake, NC home that he cherished dearly. He was the loving husband of Joanna Christoph, as well as father of Benjamin Christoph (married to Sara), and Hannah Christoph. He was the stepfather of Hannah Ollila and Kristen Ollila. Additionally he is survived by sisters Linda Kassab (married to Alain) and Kathy Corbitt (married to Cord). Son of Marilyn and Richard Christoph; he is predeceased by his father.
John was born in Waukesha, WI, on September 13th, 1962. A lover of animals, he was a graduate of the University of Florida Veterinary School, which lended itself to a lifelong role of caring for and loving animals as well as being a diehard Gators fan. A longtime member of the greater Asheville veterinary community, he served his clients as a relief veterinarian and through his mobile veterinary service, and leaves behind three dogs and three cats with his family (not to mention three granddogs).
From his hometown in Wisconsin, to his life in Southwest Florida, and in the remainder spent in the mountains of WNC that he loved, John lived heartily and with a soul that sought to do right by others. He reveled with his family and friends in the oasis of Pisgah National Forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway, among various other trails and parks. He was a boater, hiker, and especially a mountain biker - an activity he enjoyed until the very day he passed on.
He cherished watching college football with his family, and he will be missed greatly during tailgates for his wife's Michigan Wolverines, his son's NC State Wolfpack, his daughter and stepdaughters' Appalachian State Mountaineers, and his beloved Florida Gators.
His legacy will be his undying love for his family, his heart for animals of all shapes and sizes, and his unique but hilarious sense of humor.
Memorial donations may be made to Brother Wolf in Asheville, NC or Compassion International.
The family will have a private gathering on New Year's Day to celebrate his life.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

John was an amazing man, husband, father and friend. He was a gifted provider of care to all of the Hall animals (our animal children) for so many years. Such many great memories of his sense of humor, kindness and compassion. You all will remain in the Alan and Sherry Hall family prayers. All who knew John were blessed with his friendship.
Jo,
I am so sorry for your loss. The tribute to John is absolutely beautiful. I know he will be missed by many.

I was surprised and saddened to hear that John passed away. And so young! He was highly regarded in Fort Myers for his work at the Emergency Veterinary Clinic. What a great loss to all who knew him. Please accept my sincere condolences to his family.
So sorry to hear of John’s passing, He was a classmate of mine and we went to St Augustine Beach a few times. I always enjoyed his company and his great love for life and animals. He will be missed.
We are so upset to hear of Dr. Christoph passing away at such a young age. The entire Benson family with our dogs and cats loved this devoted and caring doctor. He would get right down on the floor with our dogs and we all knew what a special doctor he was. I am sure he is in Heaven with all the animals who loved and enjoyed his care. He and his family are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
