Larry Richard Black, 70, of Asheville, died on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the Elizabeth House. A native of Asheville, he was the son of the late William Earl and Pauline Black. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Hopkins Black, who died in 2007, sister, Betty Jane Clark, and brother, Joe Black. Mr. Black worked in maintenance for Buncombe County Schools. He also worked as an auto mechanic. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. Mr. Black is survived by his daughter, Lisa King and husband Tracy, of Leicester. A funeral service for Mr. Black will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday at Grace Baptist Church, with the Rev. Nathan Pruett officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grace Baptist Church Youth Group, 718 Haywood Rd., Asheville, NC 28806. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
