Ted Allen Reeves, 64, of Arden, passed away Friday, July 3, 2015 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals.
A native of Buncombe County, he was the son of the late Fred and Georgia McMahon Reeves. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Rebecca, who passed away in December 2014.
Ted was a graduate of TC Roberson High School and worked 34 years as a mechanic at CP&L. He was a member of Avery's Creek United Methodist Church and of the Apple Country Engine and Tractor Club. Ted was passionate about all that he did, but particularly enjoyed farming, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by one daughter, Kris McDonald and her husband Steve; one son, Allen Reeves; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Reeves, Jeff Reeves and Maria McDonald; two sisters, Brenda Humphrey and her husband John and Faye Brinson and her husband Irby, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Frank Ramos officiating. Interment will be held at Avery's Creek United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rest in peace, you ‘big ol teddy bear’. You will be missed and never forgotten. My prayers go out to the family. May you find comfort in the days ahead.
Thinking of you all during this sad time and remembering Ted with fondness. He was a one of a kind… a true original. We will cherish all our memories of him. God bless you all.

I am so sorry to hear of Ted’s passing. I rmember him well at TC. It is hard to loose a sibling. i lost my brother, Larry, Last year and miss him each day still. Please know that my love and prayers are with you and your family. God bless and take care of each of you.

Ted was such a character, always had a good story to tell and made me laugh. You haven’t eaten a good cantaloupe until you had one from Ted. He was always willing to share his crop secrets and the bounty from them. Rest in peace Ted.

I had just seen him a couple of weeks ago at Boone’s Corner. Was so excited to hear we would not have to forego ‘Ted’s tomatoes,’ when he told me he was going to have them this year. Absolutely the best tomatoes my family has eaten every year since the seventies when I went to work with him at the power plant. He was a very nice man, my condolences to all.
