  10. Sue, we are thinking of you and want you to know we care! As you may be aware Doyle has not been very well for awhile but he carefully read the obit for Ernest and said ‘we need to go to the service’. I mentioned they will understand if we can’t make it and he said, ‘you do remember it was Ernest who provided that comfortable transportation for Carlie to drive to Myrtle Beach to bring us home after that terrible accident’! That happened more than 25 years ago and the memories in all the following years are special, tender, meaningful, and most often fun. Our prayers and heart hugs are with you and ”maybe’ we will see you. Tender blessings.

  11. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. Ernest worked for my Grandfather (Max Hayes) and my Father (O.L. ‘Pete’ Garner) at Hayes & Hopson for many years as a salesman. He was very respected by his customers and all who knew him. I began working at Hayes & Hopson at 14 – mainly after school, during the summer and holidays – and Ernest was always very kind to me and took me under his wing and showed me the ropes of the auto parts industry. When I returned to the company after college, I took over Ernest’s sales territory when he, Gordon Duckett and Wates Whitaker decided to start AAA Parts. I rode with Ernest for many weeks, learning the territory and customers. He was so patient with me and taught me most everything I knew about the business. I will forever be grateful to Ernest for his kindness, compassion, and caring. May he rest in peace.

  12. Sue, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. Ernest was a wonderful man and it was an honor to have known him. May God bless you and your family in the coming weeks. Ernestine & George Stone

Rest in peace Ernest, You will be missed greatly. You and Sue were always so good to me.Ernest gave me a job when I didn’t know how I was going to make it, and he taught me a lot about the parts business and how to sell parts.
