Mattie Jones Davis, 102, of Candler, died on Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Pisgah Manor Health Care Center.
A native of Buncombe Co., Mrs. Davis was the daughter of the late Kettie Jones Morgan. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Branson Davis; daughter, Josephine Plemmons; son, Jack Davis; half-sisters, Lillian Edmonds and Maxine Tosi; and half-brother, Edward Morgan.
Mrs. Davis had been a member of the Upper Hominy Fire & Rescue Auxiliary, and had attended Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Clara Smathers, of Candler; sons, Henry Davis and Lonnie Davis, both of Hendersonville, and James Davis, of Candler; 19 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and a number of great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mrs. Davis will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with Pastor Bobby Winebarger officiating.
Interment will follow at Pisgah United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mattie was such an inspiration to our family. We all loved her. She was such a blessing, How blessed you as the family were to have her with you all these years. Will be praying for you all. We know Mattie is present with the Lord, how fortunate for her to be out of this world of strife and pain and have perfect peace and joy.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the family.I always love to see her come in my fathers store.She was always so kind and loving.She is in a better place.God bless you all.
Mattie will be greatly missed by many..she was such a sweet lady.always had a smile . sorry for your loss.
