Eva Rena Robinson Waldrup, 84, of Fletcher, died on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Universal Healthcare. A native of Yancey Co., Mrs. Waldrup was a daughter of the late Philmore and Elizabeth Elkin Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Jake Waldrup. Mrs. Waldrup retired from Taylor Instruments. She was a member of Candler House of Prayer. Mrs. Waldrup is survived by her daughter, Betty Waldrup Allen and husband Mark; three sons, Ronnie Waldrup and wife Beth, Roger Waldrup and fiance Patricia Reese, and the Rev. Chuck Waldrup and wife Libby; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clarence Robinson. A funeral service for Mrs. Waldrup will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Revs. Chuck Waldrup and Kenneth Eatmon officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

  4. We only knew Miss Rena for a short time when she was my mother’s roommate at Universal. (Barbara Carter) She was very sweet and had a great sense of humor. We often visited her even after she was moved to the different room. It was fun as your family and our family double teamed both mothers; watching out for them both. You all our in our prayers.
