Cathie Burns Vaughn Flat Rock – Cathie Burns Vaughn, 72, of Flat Rock, died Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Hendersonville Health & Rehabilitation after an extended illness. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late James William and Mildred Spain Burns. Cathie was a barber in the Asheville area for over 30 years. She graduated from Biltmore High School in 1961 and was an avid antique collector. She is survived by her son, Gregg Vaughn of Asheville as well as one sister, Beth Waldrep of Dacula, GA. A service celebrating Cathie's life will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday, May 15, 2015 at Hendersonville Health & Rehabilitation, 104 College Drive, Flat Rock. Her family graciously asks that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in her memory to a charity of ones' choice. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

  2. I have cherished memories of Cathie and I growing up together, growing apart geographically, and coming back together at a time when we could reflect on those memories and enjoy and embrace them together. Sis, you will forever be in my heart.
