Curtis Ownbey, 86, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015. at J.F. Keever Solace Center.
Born in Buncombe Co. to the late Frank and Ruth Ownbey, he retired from A & M Tool after 34 years and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Surviving is his wife of 67 years, Lois. Also a son, Jim Ownbey and wife Pat; daughter, Shirley Stapleton; grandchildren, Stephanie and Brian; and brother, Nathan and wife Eleanor.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road, East Asheville. Rev. Father Bucky Hanks will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service.
Burial will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Church of the Redeemer in Woodfin.

My prayers are with such a special family during the passing of a wonderful man. I have been so blessed to be able to call both Curtis and Lois my friends. Love them both so much

Lois and all your family, we want you to know how much we miss Curtis, my sweet cousin. I do believe he is with my mama, his Aunt Phebe, and all the others with Jesus now and it won’t be long until we get to see them all. Thank our precious Heavenly Father for that!
