Thomas "Tom" McCurry

Thomas O. "Tom" McCurry, 88, of Asheville, died Thursday, April 2, 2015, at Aston Park Health Care Center. A native of Asheville, NC, he was a son of the late Frank and Emma Carroll McCurry. He was also preceded in death by sisters Ruby Cowan, Rose Cowan, Nell Sales, and brother Carroll McCurry. Mr. McCurry served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1942-1951. He worked as a home builder and developer, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Asheville. Mr. McCurry is survived by his children, Melissa L. McCurry and David McCurry and wife Jill; former wife and the mother of his children, Lucy S. McCurry; grandchildren, Thomas A. McCurry and Matthew L. McCurry; and sisters Jean McCoy and Dorothea McCuen. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Buddy Corbin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Private burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery.
