Arthur Ray Owenby

Arthur Ray Owenby Fairview – Arthur Ray Owenby, 86, of Fairview died Sunday, November 16, 2014, at his daughter's residence. A native of Polk County, NC, he was a son of the late Homer and Lettie Ingle Owenby. Ray was also preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Myers Owenby who died in 2009; two daughters, Elaine Huskey and Brenda McAninch; two brothers, Leonard and Melvin Owenby; one sister, Colene Myers as well as one son-in-law, Ray Mathies. Ray is survived by one daughter, Joyce Mathies of Fairview; one son-in-law, James McAninch of Fairview; two brothers, Carroll Owenby of Fairview and Boyce Owenby of Weaverville; six sisters, Margie Morelock, Nellie Harris and Shirley Colagerakis of Asheville and Helen McAbee, Loyce Kuykendall and Martha Adams of Fairview; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren as well as several extended family and friends. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Calvary Baptist Church in Fairview with Reverend Robert Ponder and Reverend Boyce Owenby officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian.
