Luarie, Thomas and I remember fondly Gilda in her better years. She was a wonderful neighbor and church friend.
May she share in the peace of the Lord and be with her husband forever more.
I am working tomorrow at a church, or I would be there to share with you in the memorial service.
I remember you all well from your father’s service. I am retired and living up here in Saluda now.
I have fond memories of Gilda. Michael and Marie Sariego were good friends with the Simmons’. They invited us up to their Harrington, NJ residence for a few summers, to stay for a week or so. My sisters went separately from myself. We being from Brooklyn felt truly in the country. I had a ball. Danny and I went behind the house to the “sand pit” a huge property that in hide sight was probably being developed for homes or an office park. We spent hours having a real adventure there. Gilda took good care of us Brooklyn kids. She made us eat a good breakfast before we started our adventures. I’ll never forget the shakes with a raw egg in it. Not easy to eat but it didn’t kill me. I also remember going fishing with Danny at a local pond and catching a small sunfish. What an exciting prize to take home to Brooklyn. I believe my mom kept it in the freezer for some time before she got rid of it. I also remember the great time we had at the barbeques at the side of the house.
Wonderful memories. Rest in peace Ant Gilda.
