Charles Lee Edwards, 61 passed away on October 22, 2014 after an extended battle with diabetes and its side effects. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Kathryn Burgin Edwards and is survived by his father, Wesley Edwards and his wife, Kathleen Fender Edwards.
Charlie is also survived by his wife of 42 years, Loretta Metcalf Edwards; son, Charles Daniel "Danny" Edwards and his wife, Jennifer; one grandchild, Jesse Daniel Edwards and by two brothers, Burnice and Harlon Edwards.
He was an employee of Precision Products of Asheville for over a decade. Also he enjoyed collecting and restoring antique David Bradley walk behind tractors and a lifetime member of the Apple Country Antique Engine & Tractor Association.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Reverends Worth Emory and Gary Fender. Interment will follow in Ivy Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Weaverville. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flower memorials may be made to CarePartners Hospice or the Fletcher Fire Department.
