Thurel Ray “Bud” Hill, 68, of 22 Woods Road, Fairview, died Thursday, July 22, 2004, in an Asheville hospital.
Born in Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Arthur Lee and Esma Searcy Hill. He retired in 1991 from Winn Dixie after 38 years of dedicated service as a market manager.
Mr. Hill is survived by his wife Melva Nesbitt Hill; a daughter, Monte Sorrells and her husband Clay of Fairview; two sisters, Alta Looney and her husband, Dewey and Lottie Watkins and her husband Charles, all of Asheville.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday at Bethany United Methodist Church with the Reverend Doctor Robert Blackburn, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

I’m very sorry to read this. I used to live about three or four miles down the road from Thurel and we graduated from high school together.
I am sadden to learn of Mr. Hills passing. I worked at Winn-Dixie while in high school, and I have the utmost respect for him. I went to school with Monty, and she and the rest of the family will be in my prayers. Thurl was a Christian man. There is nothing better than to know that he is looking upon Gods face, rejoicing, and reaping his rewards. May God comfort his family.
