Myrtle Davis Watts, 99, died Friday, December 20, 2013. Mrs. Watts was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Oscar R. and Maude Mann Davis. She was married to the late Rev. Floyd Watts and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Lou Watts, a grandson, Kenneth Davis; sisters, Betty Lou Davis, Lucy Green, Gladys Howell and Mabry Davis; and brothers, Norman, Ray, Fred and Troy Davis. She was a member of Grace Freewill Baptist Church in Haywood County and more recently attended Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Gail Davis (Neil) and Elizabeth O'Kelley (Bill); a son, the Rev. Austin Watts (Lou); eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Austin Watts and the Rev. Marvin Watts officiating. Interment will follow at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to Hominy Valley Independent Church, PO Box 1957, Candler, NC 28715.
