Catherine Kress Butts

Catherine M. (Kress) Butts, 91, of Asheville, NC, died at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 14, at Stonecreek Health and Rehabilitation Center in Asheville. She had been in failing health for the last year. Catherine was born September 13, 1922, the daughter of Anthony and Helen (Schick) Kress of Terre Haute, IN. She was married to Virgil C. Butts of Vigo County, IN for 52 years. She retired from Indiana National Bank after a long career in accounting and auditing. She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Reker and her husband, Les Reker of Asheville, NC; daughter-in-law, Velma Butts of Dagsboro, DE; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Rita Callahan and her husband, Robert of St. Mary of the Woods, IN; one brother, Robert Kress and his wife, Marge of Terre Haute, IN. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park, Bldg. 1, Asheville, NC, 28801, or to the donor's favorite charity. Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road is assisting the Butts family.
