Samuel L. Harmon, 80, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Harmon was born in West Virginia to the late Samuel Jackson Harmon and Edith Marie Harmon.
He had worked as owner and operator of the Shoney's in Brevard before retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Lorene; one son, Dennis Harmon (Regina); brothers, Gene of Marysville, Ohio, David of Winfield, W.Va. and James Davis of Richwood, Ohio; sisters, Doris Nelson of Pinnacle, NC, Charlotte Gritt of Poca, W.Va., Pat Stone of Charleston, W.Va., Donna Eskew of Godfrey, Ill. and Norma Daugherty of Dunbar, W.Va.; grandsons, Tyler Harmon, Patrick Brookshire of Arden, Nathan Brookshire of Fort Benning, Ga. and one granddaughter, Katy Cordell of Garner, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 28, 2013 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Reverend Doyle Young officiating. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Skyland.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Funeral Home.

I worked with Mr. Harmon at Shoneys in Biltmore many years ago. He was a very kind man and I enjoyed working with him. Your family is in my prayers during this sad time.
