Ruth Blizard Dotson

Fairview ~ Ruth Blizard Dotson, 89, died Friday, August 9, 2002 at Mountain Area Hospice. A native of Patrick County, VA, Mrs. Dotson was a daughter of the late Cavie Montgomery Blizard and Robert Anderson Blizard and wife of the late Griffen Van Buren Dotson, who died in 1962. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Ruth Dotson, who died in 1995, one sister, Ruby Blizard Roberts, and four brothers, Claude Blizard, Spurgeon Blizard, Robert Blizard and Thomas Blizard. Mrs. Dotson was a member of the Black Knob Extension Club of Fairview and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include a son, Robert Van Buren Dotson and his wife, Cindy of Rutherfordton; a sister, Margaret Blizard Thompson of Hendersonville and two grandchildren, Andi Cora Dotson of Asheville and Robert Van Buren Dotson, II of Alexandria, VA. A funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road with Bishop Richard Bowen officiating.
