Arden - Berton Rhett Lance, 42, of Laurel Terrace Court, died unexpectedly Tuesday, May 4, 2004.
A native of Henderson County, he was the son of Hazel Butler Lance of Arden and of the late Albert Gus Lance. He was an employee of Warehouse Logistics.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Holly Lance of Fletcher; two sisters, Deborah Shepherd, and her husband James, of Fletcher and Teresa Sexton of Arden and a special loving friend, Marsha Fornarotto of Swannanoa.
Graveside services will be held at 11 am Friday in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Skyland conducted by the Revs. Cecil Robinson and Jim Carrigan.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm Thursday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian where Mr. Lance will remain until the service time.

Debbie and all of the family, so deeply sorry about Rhett, my thoughts, prayers, heart and spirit are with you, with hopes and wishes for peace and comfort at this time. No one is truly gone, if we have them in our hearts.
