Ruby Louise Israel, 86, of Asheville, died on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals.
A native of Madison Co., Mrs. Israel was a daughter of the late Larkin C. and Ora Messer Green. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe "Dink" Israel; and brother, Jack Green.
Mrs. Israel was a member of Bull Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Phillip D. Israel (Selena); sister, Margaret Revis (Homer); brothers, Jimmie Green (Dorothy), Richard Green (Linda), Gerald Green (Shirley), and Ray Green; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for Mrs. Israel will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Green officiating. Her family will receive friends at the cemetery one hour prior to the service.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

Thinking of all the years growing up with Ruby. Playing in the broom-sage while minding the cows. walking to school in the Bull Creek
Church. She was like a sister to us.
