Asheville – Nancy Noretta Higgins Melton, 84, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Mission Hospital and the family gives a special Thanks to the medical staff at Mission Hospital.
A native of Pike County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Hopson and Lucy Hensley Higgins. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Burnette Higgins.
Mrs. Melton is survived by her five children; a daughter, Patricia Ward, two sons, Jerry and Jimmy Melton and daughters, Judy Howard and her husband Gary, of Asheville and Tonja Tollison and her husband, Jon, of Arden; two sisters, Christine Rogers and her husband, Jim, of Morganton and Goldie Early of Spartanburg, SC; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Willard Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church on Wednesday.
