Silas Surrett, 91, of 45 Martin Branch Road, Leicester, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, April 18, 2004, at the VA Medical Center.
Mr. Surrett was born in Buncombe County and was a lifelong resident of Leicester. He was a son of the late Commodore and Julia Bradburn urrett and was also preceded in death by his sisters and brothers, Ethel, Trudy, Bob, Bluford, Wilkie, Lloyd and his twin brother Paul. He served in the US Army during WW II and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. He was a pipefitter and a 50-year member of Local No. 421, United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lusk Surrett and a sister Annie Freeman of Leicester.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Scroggs officiating. Burial will be at Payne’s Chapel Cemetery.
His family will receive friends at the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Zion Hill Baptist Church, 1008 Newfound Road, Leicester, NC 28748.
