The Rev. David Richard Watts, 83, died Friday, November 30, 2012, at his home in Candler. Rev. Watts was born in Buncombe County and was a son of the late Thomas and Eula Smith Watts. He was married to Ethel Plemmons Watts, who died in 1997, and was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Hobart, Fred, Lane, Rev. Alonzo, Albert T., Rev. Berry and Rev. Floyd Watts, Elva Curtis, Grace West and Georgina Elliott. Richard was retired from BASF/American Enka after 47 years and also served as pastor of several churches. He was a member of Open Bible Church. He is survived by two sons, Charles Watts and wife Audette and Calvin Watts and wife Gwendolyn; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and by his wife, Ruby Pinkerton Watts. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with burial at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The Revs. Marvin Watts, Austin Watts, Robert Elliott and Roger Boone will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence. Memorials may be made to the Open Bible Church.

  11. I just wanted to say how sorry for your loss. I know he is with Aunt Ethel and Aunt Margie. I would hve been to see you but i just saw this.I know he will be missed greatly.
