I hold such wonderful memories of Pappa: walking around Beaver Lake and seeing him walking with his lovely wife, singing with him in the North Church choir, watching him walk Carol down the aisle in his bib overalls at the little church in Cades cove, sitting at the house with Carol and hearing him tell stories. He was such a blessed man and such a blessing to others! He will be greatly missed. Know that your family is bathed in prayer during this most difficult time in your lives.
Carol and Dean, please know that my prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time. Love to both of you!
Papa was such a sweet man. I am so sorry for your loss. I know he will be missed dearly.

My love to all of you.
This world is not our home, we’re only passing through. I can’t wait to share eternity with Dad forever. No more tears
Pappa was truly one of the most selfless people that I have ever met. His patience, kindness and unconditional love serve as an excellent role model for us all. We will never forget him and always miss him.

I had Mr. Youngberg in 7th and 8th grade. I had lots of good times with his family. He was a caring man and will be missed by many. I am thinking of you Carol, David and Bruce. Thank goodness for heaven. I plan to be there and see my daughter and your dad and many others. May you feel God’s loving arms around you as you grieve and may you feel His peace.

Uncle Jimmy convinced me that burnt toast was healing charcoal so not to complain. He & Dad regularly fixed breakfasts for their wives and kids. I didn’t realize they learned this behavior pattern from their father. He recalled Grandpa & Grandma argued out in the orchard settling their differences out of earshot of their kids since the kids were forbidden to enter the orchard. Jim said it was usually Grandma concerned that Grandpa was giving other kids preferential treatment over his own kids. Grandpa was trying to compensate for their absent fathers. Sounds like Jim & Dad were caring men like their dad. Thinking of all of you, Giny
So sorry for your loss. Prayers for all the family. Love you guys.
I am extremely sorry for you loss, Mr. Youngberg was a one of kind person and my favorite teacher. He taught me to love astronomy, and to use a telescope, and that’s something I have continued to enjoy. He told me to Dream big and reach for the stars. He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family.
Dear family,
I just learned of Jim’s passing today from a posting at McKee Foods in Collegedale, Tennessee. May I offer my heartfelt condolence.
I had the privilege – and I do mean privilege – of being Jim’s supervisor for a number of years on second shift at McKee. I have been at McKee Foods for a long time and worked with hundreds of people – but none any finer than Jim. He cared about his job – it wasn’t just done – it was always done right. And Jim cared about people – always a kind word and easy smile.
I’ve often wondered about Jim after he retired – how he was and where he was. But today – I wonder no more about where Jim is. His life was an example of what and who he believed in.
Well done Jim.
