Arden ~ Cassa Buckner Thom, 80, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Mrs. Thom was born February 8, 1932 to the late Wiley A. Buckner and Minnie Campbell Buckner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold Thom, Jr. and several brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Thom loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She was extremely fun loving and enjoyed traveling the world.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Gathman and her husband, Michael; three sisters, Paula Cramer, Minnie Hoen and Kathryn Shaw; one brother, William Buckner; a step-son, Harold Thom III and his wife, Shavaughn; a step-daughter, Kelley Thom; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held November 10, 2012 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Asheville. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of arrangements.

It was a pleasure to have met such a wonderful woman! Sweet Cassa was always smiling. She will greatly missed.
