Fletcher – Roy Lee West, 84, of Fletcher passed away peacefully Tuesday, September 25, 2012, after a short illness. He has gone to enjoy eternal peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Roy was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County and born on July 17, 1928 in Fletcher to the late Blank and Mint Fowler West. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roland West and Wade West. Roy was a hard working dedicated employee of Southern Concrete Materials for 28 years, retiring in 1995. During that time he proudly drove a concrete mixer all over Henderson County. If you have ever visited Roy at home, his driveway is proof that he enjoyed his work and on occasion even brought it home with him. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Howard Gap Road, Hendersonville, and enjoyed playing with all the small children and on occasion even sang a tune. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Vina Sams West; five sisters, Willie Mae Hudson, Betty McMinn, Minnie Clayton, Marie Wolfe, and Dorothy Roberts; a son, Roy Randall West and his wife Tammy of Hendersonville, and their two sons Jordan and Cainan; stepson, Michael Lyons and his significant other Sandra of Fletcher; stepdaughter, Donna Estep and her husband John; of Stafford, VA and their two sons John and Brandon. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian at 11:00 AM with Reverend Jimmy Justice officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hendersonville. The family will receive friends on Friday night, September 28 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
