Grace Hughes Hawkins, 91, of Asheville, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at Park Ridge Hospital.
A native of Yancey County, she was a daughter of the late Avery and Mallie Chrisawn Hughes. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Earl Hawkins.
Mrs. Hawkins is survived by sisters Myrtle Crymes of Huntersville, Agnes Kent of Marion, Mary Corn of Arden, Annie V. Ward of Boiling Springs, and Hope Reeves of Candler; and by several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends following the service.
A private entombment will be held Monday at the Forest Lawn Mausoleum
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 31 College Pl, Ste. D320, Asheville, NC 28801.

I knew her as ‘Aunt Grace’.. She lived across the road from me while I was growing up. She was so good to me. I thought she was so pretty. She stayed in touch with my Mother, Idell Yount. They talked quite frequently. I have talked to her several times the last few years. We will miss her. I wish all her family love and fond memories.
