Lawrence James Schrader, Jr.

Lawrence James Schrader, Jr., 79, of Talmadge Ct., Asheville, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. A native of Buncombe Co., he was a son of the late Annie Baldwin Murphy and step-son of the late Clinton H. Murphy. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Scott Schrader. Mr. Schrader was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a foreman with Whitmire Paint and Decorating Co. in Conover. He also formerly worked with Biltmore Dairy Farms. He was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. Mr. Schrader is survived by a son, James Schrader and his wife, Vicky; a grandson, Jason; and a sister, Ramona Creasman and her husband, Frank. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. John T. Tiller officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
