Lucille Davis Brooks, 92, of Frank Brooks Trail, Candler, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center.
A lifelong resident of Haywood Co., she was a daughter of the late Wiley and Ethel James Davis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, C. Woodrow Brooks; and by a son, Terry Richard Brooks.
Mrs. Brooks worked for Asheville Hosiery Mill and for American Enka. She was a member of Laurel Hill United Methodist Church.
She is survived by sons Ronnie Woodrow Brooks and wife, Joann, of Lincolnton, NC, Bill R. Brooks and wife, Ruby, of Denver, NC, and Franklin Vinson Brooks and wife, Barbara, of Candler; grandchildren Edyie and husband Robbie, Ronnie, Travis and wife Susan, Danny and wife Shanna, Dedra and husband Jeff, Terry, Jason and wife Jennifer, Greg and wife Hope, Sam, and Elizabeth; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters Hilda Wynn and Margaret Tompkins; and brother Bill Davis and wife, Pauline.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Montmorenci United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Frank and Mary Gordon, and the Rev. Elwood Wiggins officiating. Her family will receive friends following the service. Family burial will follow at Laurel Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813, or to the Laurel Hill Church Cemetery Fund, 351 Beaverdam Loop Rd., Candler, NC 28715.
