Marie Craig Laughter, 72, of Church Road, died unexpectedly Friday, April 20, 2012. She was born in Buncombe County and was the daughter of the late Joseph Richard and Maybelle Ollis Craig. She was married to Wayne Laughter, who died March 25, 2012, and she was retired from Lustar. Surviving are her son, Bobby Laughter and his friend, Jennifer Sprinkle; granddaughter, Samantha Laughter; and two sisters, Helen Hensley and husband, Richard, and Ann Husky. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with interment to follow at Cane Creek Cemetery. The Rev. Chris McLean will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

  1. Bobby words fail me. I couldn’t believe it when I heard of Marie’s passing. We spend many hours on the telephone talking about this and that. I am truly sorry she passed and I will miss her alot. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Sam at this time.

  3. Bobby, I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful Mother, Marie was a dear friend to me many years ago as we worked together at Woolworth’s. Alot of years have passed since then but I never ever stopped thinking of her. She was a lovely woman and such an inspiration to all of us who knew her. I pray God comforts your heart and gives you all the strength you need. I am also sorry to read about the loss of your Father, Please know you are in alot of hearts and that God will take care of everything. Praying for you and your family and know that you are not alone.
