Dorothy Irene Kiser

Dorothy Irene Kiser of 333 Stratford Road, Asheville, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at a local nursing home. A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Conley Lee and Lillie Mae Ledford Kiser. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Helen Kiser and three brothers, Frank C., Arthur G. and John R. Kiser. Ms. Kiser was retired from the National Weather Records Center after 40 years of service as an administrative assistant. She also volunteered with ABCCM, Western Carolina Rescue Mission and Memorial Mission Hospital. She was a member of Malvern Hills Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed traveling, and her dog, Buddy, was the center of her life. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, DeNeale O. Kiser of Candler and Sarah G. Kiser of Asheville; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; one great-great niece; one great-great nephew and a large circle of friends. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Charles Kirby and Douglas Tilley officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brent, Kevin, John, Ralph and Sam Kiser and Jesse Kirby. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
