Gladys Mae "G.G." King Godsey, 90, of Asheville, died on Monday, January 9, 2012 at Flesher's Fairview Rest Home.
Born in Concord, VA to the late Elijah E. and Victoria Payne King, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, "Poppy", who died in 2007.
Mrs. Godsey is survived by her daughter, Vivian Mullican of Asheville and two grandchildren Kimberly Saunders and her husband, Michael, of Irvington, VA, and Christopher Mullican and his wife, Heather, of Ashland, VA, and 8 great grandchildren.
A funeral service for Mrs. Godsey will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Groce United Methodist Church, of which she was a member. Rev. Gerald Davis will officiate.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road. Interment will be in the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery, with her husband.

What a life she lived, bringing her talents to so many neighborhoods and to so many people. Her laugh resonates in my head right now as she tells story after story about her family and their good times together. It was a blessing to have her as my aunt.
